Located in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of New York,
Springwater Center offers silent meditation retreats in a spacious retreat facility. Located on 220 acres of land in the country, participants will find themselves surrounded by forests, streams, meadows and miles of walking trails.
The unique retreat format at the Center offers guests the joy of being together in a simple, open space of awareness and stillness. It is an atmosphere that is designed to invite wonder, curiosity and discovery for all who take part in the program. There are optional daily schedules which allow participants the chance to meet with teachers and to take part in meditation, talks and interaction with other students during a group meeting format.
The most popular retreat format presented at the Center includes their Quiet Weeks that take place in the two-week intervals between their seven-day retreats. During those time periods, designated areas of the house are kept in complete silence. This provides an opportunity to have a quiet, meditative atmosphere in the midst of everyday life. During this time, other areas of the house continue to function as they would normally. This means that guests can opt to stay in the silence for the duration of their stay or move to the talking areas of the Center to interact with others if so desired.
During the quiet week periods…
There is an opportunity for participants to design their own retreat format with options for timed or open sitting, group discussions and one-on-one work with teachers and leaders in residence. You can stay for as many days as you would like during these weeks and can combine them with another two-week retreat to create a month long stay if you feel so inclined. There are also opportunities to participate in these two weeks as a volunteer, rather than as a guest if that is something that is preferred at the time of booking. The purpose of these extended sittings, meetings, and gatherings is to allow space for contemplation regarding life. There are opportunities to work with teachers or to work on your own.
